Ingredients:

French Toast:

1 cup brown sugar

½ cup unsalted butter

1 (8 oz.) loaf of crusty

French bread, cut into bite-sized pieces or more as needed

2 cups milk Six large eggs

2 tsp. vanilla extract

Topping:

1 tbsp. Brown sugar, or to taste

¼ tsp. ground cinnamon, or to taste Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Directions:

How to make French toast:

Combine brown sugar and butter over medium-low heat and stir until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved, 2 to 4 minutes.

Put the butter-brown sugar mixture in the baking dish that has been prepared.

French bread slices should be arranged in a 1 1/2 to 2-inch layer on top. Stir the milk, eggs, and vanilla until thoroughly blended.

Pour over the bread pieces, then use a spatula to push the bread down so it absorbs the liquid.

Wrap the dish in plastic wrap and chill for eight to twelve hours. Take the French toast out of the fridge and throw away the plastic wrap when ready to bake it.

Set the oven’s temperature to 450°F (230°C). Produce topping: In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and brown sugar.

Over the French toast, sprinkle. Cook in the oven for about 30 minutes or until the casserole is bubbling and browning, covering the top with aluminum foil if necessary. Slice into squares and place on serving dishes to serve.
